Bloggers are people who, through the use of a blog, give
updates to other readers about things that are occurring. There
are many reasons blogs are used. Here are just a few.
Businesses use blogs to update clients on new products or
services. Rather than trying to design a long winded newsletter
and sending it via email, clients can receive the updates
through the blog. Everything can be easily accessed in one
location, and should readers/clients be interested in past
accomplishments, they can view the archives.
Businesses also use blogs to gain exposure. Every time they
make a post to their blog, they can insert a link back to their
company's website URL. This will allow the pages of the blog to
be connected to the site thus ranking it high in the search
engines. The more a blogger blogs, the more traffic he will
have. It is equivalent to watering a plant. If done everyday,
the blog and business will grow.
Because blogs have such great networking capabilities,
business owners use them to network with others in their
industry. This networking allows them to share ideas with one
another and possibly share clients. The comment sections on the
blogs allow them to interact freely.
On an informal basis, bloggers use their blogs to connect
with friends or to keep them informed about what is happening
in their lives. These people don't care as much about being in
the search engines as they are only using their blogs to
communicate with ones they know. In cases like this, the blogs
serve the purpose of being an online diary. Or online weblog -
hence the word blog!
Teenagers are even beginning to use blogs. They'll paste
their photos, post any thoughts, describe their feelings, write
crazy comments on other's blogs, and just have a jolly time. No
matter how senseless their content may be, it is most
importantly an outlet for them to let off steam and express
themselves freely.
Because blogs are a part of social media, there are some
that will use them in crisis situations for the sake of keeping
everyone involved abreast of the latest news. Updates can be
provided about new rescue operations as well as keeping people
informed about missing and injured loved ones.
No matter the reason for using the blog, more and more are
finding them to be quite useful. Just in the past few years,
blogs have increasingly gained popularity. As the trend
continues, numerous individuals will gravitate to becoming
bloggers.
