Spam, whether it'd be found in email, on a forum, or anywhere on the Internet, is extremely annoying. Seeing it makes us cringe as it takes much of our precious time to delete the hundreds of messages that pop up. These useless messages can also be found on blogs as people will install robots to post their garbage within the comment sections of people's blogs. Here is how to get rid of blog spam once and for all so this will never again have to be an annoyance that wastes your precious time!

One way you can deal with this problem is that you can require that a person type in certain characters that they see on a graphical interface before proceeding to comment. This technique is known as image verification. Robotic software is unable to read letters that are within graphics which will eliminate the spam altogether. Of course, this option may either require that you are a programmer who has enough knowledge to put such a program in place or that the blog which you are using has this featured enabled.

The second option for dealing with blog spam is that you can install a special application called Spam Karma 2.3. This is a WordPress plug-in that stops blogs from receiving all forms of automated spam while being as unobtrusive as possible to human beings who wish to make comments. Once the system is installed, there is little effort on your part as all you'll have to do is sit back and let Spam Karma do its job. The requirements that your blog must meet is that it must of course be a Wordpress blog, and the blog should be mySQL: 4.0 or higher as some functions of the software may not be compatible otherwise.

Installing the software is a synch as all you'll have to do is follow four simple steps. The first thing you must do is download the archive. Second, unzip and drop the entire SK2 folder into your plug-ins directory. Do not make any changes to the folder. It must be left as is. Following that, enable the plug-in in the administrative section of your Wordpress blog. Lastly, you'll need to browse to the following sections in this order; WP Admin, Manage, Spam Karma. Presto! Blog spam is history!

Another option you have is enabling white and black lists similar to those found in email. This will allow you to choose those you wish to comment and block the IP addresses of those you don't. Using this method, you'll see that the amount of spam on your blog will decrease as spammers will more than likely not want to go through the trouble of getting a new IP address unless they are extremely desperate.

Blog spam no longer has to be a problem as now you have the knowledge to eliminate it. Blogging will not be as much a hassle as it was before since now, you'll be rid of such nuisances.
